Member of Parliament for Western St Mary, Robert Montague, is hosting a series of chess workshops in his constituency to enhance strategic thinking in individuals.
The workshops, which started recently in Gayle, St Mary, were first hosted at Tacky High School, and are now at the Oracabessa High School on Thursdays.
“The purpose of these workshops is to get young people, especially the males, to play the game, to be more focused and strategic in their thinking and choices; chess does that,” Montague said.
The series is being sponsored by the Sports Development Foundation (SDF) with members of the Jamaica Chess Federation providing instructions.
